What a great night it was for the Girls in Green ending their 7 game losing streak in some fashion with a 3-2 win over the highly rated Australia in front of a sell out crowd of 4000 that included 53 members of Home Farm girls players and coaches.
The girls all dressed in Home Farm blue for the occasion and were easily identifiable in the stadium and on the T.V. sitting right behind our large Home Farm flag which hung proudly behind the goal in Tallaght stadium.
The HF girls were all excited to see their Irish heroes in action of course like Katie McCabe, Louise Quinn and also Sam Kerr of Chelsea and Australia. However it was ex Home Farm player Mary Fowler @maryfowlerrr who the girls were most excited to see and she did not disappoint scoring 2 very well taken goals.
At the final whistle after Mary had hugged her proud grandad from Ballymun who was in the crowd, she spotted the HF Flag and and saluted the HF girls who responded with a standing ovation.
HFG’s very own coach Kev Kelly who also taught and coached Mary in the Trinity Comprehensive, Ballymun @TrinityComp_ made contact before the game. Mary kindly obliged.
Mary was very good with her time and came over to speak with the HF girls and pose for some photos.
What a brilliant night our girls had, Ireland won 3-2, ended our losing streak and our very own Home Farm Girl Mary Fowler was one of the stars on the night scoring twice for the Matilda’s.
Needless to say the H.F. girls went home inspired and very very happy.
